PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE CONTINUES INVESTIGATING CRIMINAL CASE ON DEATH OF YOUNG PREGNANT WOMAN

The Prosecutor's Office continues to investigate the criminal case on the death of a young pregnant woman in Orhei district. The district prosecutor's office has carried out a number of investigative actions.

In particular, a biological examination of the clothes of the deceased, fragments extracted from the car and the place of residence of the driver, in whose car the woman got into, as well as a chemical examination of the soil from the place where the body was found and on the surface of the shoes of the victim and the suspect was conducted.

"A forensic medical examination of the woman's body, discovered on April 20 on the outskirts of the village of Chitcanii Vechi, Telenesti district, has also been appointed. The owners of temporary structures adjacent to the place where the body was found will be questioned as witnesses, including the appointment of other relevant actions depending on the circumstances," the prosecutor's office said.

The body of a 19-year-old pregnant woman, who disappeared on April 12 in Orhei after getting into a car, was found on April 20 as a result of a large-scale search operation involving hundreds of police officers and volunteers. The driver into whose car the deceased got into has been arrested for 30 days. He does not admit his guilt and refuses to cooperate with the investigation. According to the Criminal Code, if proven guilty, the suspect faces 15 to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment.
