“Police suspects former policeman Gheorghe Cotorobai guilty of the murder of pregnant Anna-Maria Guja,” the head of the General Inspectorate of Police (GIP), Viorel Cernauteanu, announced.

"Circumstances show that he conceived and committed certain acts, which gives us some reasonable suspicions, however, these are only suspicions and not established facts," he said.

According to Cernauteanu, all the seized videos were made at night, the criminal actions took place at night, so the quality of the images was far from the best.

Cotrobai worked in the Ministry of Internal Affairs and had the right to bear arms.

"He studied at the college of police in 1997-1998. From 1999 to 2000 he worked in the Telenesti police inspectorate, then he was dismissed and no longer worked in the structures of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Cotorobai had a weapon, but also had all the necessary documents from a psychiatrist and a narcologist for the right to possess it," said the head of the GIP.

The suspect Cotorobai has been arrested for 30 days. He does not admit guilt and refuses to cooperate with the investigation.

Anna-Maria went missing on April 12. The young woman, who was six months pregnant, was last seen in the evening getting into a hitchhiking car.
