CEC RULED TO WITHDRAW SHOR PARTY CANDIDATE MARINA TAUBER FROM BALTI MAYORAL ELECTIONS

02 december, 2021

The Central Election Commission (CEC) has decided to withdraw “Shor” Party candidate, Marina Tauber, from the Balti mayoral elections. The ruling was passed at a meeting on Wednesday. The CEC will appeal to court, which will make the final decision.

The CEC decision is based on the appeals of the Inspectorate of Police of Balti, independent mayoral candidate Nicolai Grigorisin and former deputy of “Platforma DA” Party Arina Spataru, whom the CEC did not allow to participate in the elections because of a lack of signatures in her support.

According to the CEC member, Pavel Postica, (recently appointed at the initiative of President Maia Sandu - "I."), the Balti Police Inspectorate notified CEC that during the campaign, the “Shor” Party supporters were provided with accommodation and meals at a recreation center. These expenses were not indicated in the report of the party's candidate, and if they are taken into account (152 thousand lei), the candidate exceeded the ceiling of expenses for the campaign of 759.2 thousand lei.

According to independent candidate for Balti mayoral post, Grigorishin (who entered the second round of elections together with Tauber - "I."), he "has a proof base that there were about 100 people staying at "White Dumbrava".
