PARTY OF CHANGE CHAIRMAN: MINISTRY OF JUSTICE SHOULD ENFORCE PARTY LAW

25 april, 2024

The chairman of the ”Party of Change”, Stefan Gligor, believes that the Ministry of Justice should enforce the law regarding parties that commit violations. As reported by the INFOTAG agency, he stated this on Wednesday evening on JurnalTV.

”Article 22 of the party law clearly states that a party can be dissolved in case of legislative violations. And I don't understand why the Ministry of Justice turns a blind eye on how parties violate the law and do nothing to prevent violations. The ministry is obliged to appeal to the court and demand the suspension of the activities of such parties. Yes, our courts are what they are. Perhaps they won't make such a decision. But the ministry should do its job,” Gligor emphasized.

He noted that “neither the Ministry of Justice nor the Prosecutor's Office has done their job, and as a result, party leaders are forming blocs in Moscow to destabilize Moldova.”

“Marina Tauber, who has been deprived of immunity several times and is suspected of illegally financing a party from Russia, travels to Russia for a political event. This is incomprehensible! No legal grounds prevented her from going to Moscow! The assessment by prosecutors and judges is zero. And Prosecutor General Ion Munteanu and the head of the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office, Veronica Dragalin, should simply resign,” Gligor said.

According to Gligor, Tauber should have had her passport confiscated and been prohibited from leaving the country at least.

“She was involved in the theft of a billion dollars from banks ten years ago, has not been convicted to this day, and despite repeatedly violating the law by illegally financing parties and electoral campaigns, she is free and not prohibited from leaving the country,” the politician emphasized.

Valeriu Pasha, the head of the WatchDog Association, believes that “banning parties will not yield the expected results.”

“They only want this to present themselves as victims. And this is one of Ilan Shor's tasks. If these parties are banned, their electorate will vote for other pro-Russian parties. After all, Shor with his parties can take a small number of mandates in parliament. And no one, not even the socialists, will form a coalition with him. Everyone knows this. Shor simply helps other pro-Kremlin parties. He is not a political partner for Russia, but a tool to achieve its goals,” Pasha believes.
