“IMPREUNA” POLITICAL BLOC ACCUSES AUTHORITIES OF PUTTING PRESSURE ON LOCAL AUTHORITIES AND PROPOSES SOLUTIONS

The political bloc Impreuna (DA Platform, Coalition for Unity and Welfare, League of Cities of Villages -LOC, Party of Change) accuses the authorities of putting pressure on local authorities and proposes its solutions to ensure the autonomy of mayoralties.

According to INFOTAG, LOC Chairman Alexandru Bujorean stated during press conference on Thursday that mayors “are subjected to unprecedented pressure from inspection bodies,” up to and including disqualification from holding office.

He cited the recent case of Causeni mayor Anatol Dontu, against whom the ANI National Integrity Body found an unresolved conflict of interest with a ban on holding an administrative position. Bujorean considers “excessive the powers of ANI inspectors, who by their decisions, often substitute prosecutors”.

“In this regard, the `Impreuna` bloc calls for a reasonable reduction in the powers of inspectors and the decision-making mechanism of the incorruptibility body (by amending the legislation), which today allows the possibility of subjective and politicized approach to local elected officials,” Bujorean said.
