HEAD OF RUSSIAN ORTHODOX OLD-RITE CHURCH GOT IN ROAD ACCIDENT IN MOLDOVA

Head of the Russian Orthodox Old-Rite Church, Metropolitan Korniliy (Titov) got into a road accident in Moldova, reports the National Patrol Inspectorate.

Metropolitan Korniliy arrived to Moldova last week. He was in Chisinau several days, where he personally congratulated Russian Orthodox Old-Rite Bishop of Chisinau and All Moldova Evmeny (Miheev) on his 75th birthday, as well as visited the Cathedral of the Protection of the Mother of God that belongs to the old-rite community.

After that, the Metropolitan departed to the north of Moldova to visit several villages. In the evening, his car, in which besides him there were five more clergyman, collapsed with a truck. Three people got traumas.

On Wednesday, Metropolitan Korniliy met Moldovan President Igor Dodon. The latter wrote on his Facebook page that they discussed issues, connected with the old-rite community in Moldova and the preservation of traditional spiritual values in our society.

“The Old Believers live in Moldova for already 300 years. This is one oldest ethnic and religious communities in our country. They are one of bridges, which connect Moldova with the Russian World”, Dodon wrote.

The president invited Metropolitan Korniliy to participate in the world Family Congress, which will be held in Chisinau in September 2018. Before, he also invited Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia to this event.
