PRESIDENT DISCUSSES LABOR REFORMS WITH ILO HEAD AND EURO COMMISSIONER

On Thursday, President Maia Sandu met with International Labor Organization (ILO) Director General Gilbert Houngbo and European Commissioner for Employment and Social Rights Nicolas Schmit. The press service of the Presidential Administration informed that Sandu welcomed the signing of a new financing agreement that will strengthen the capacities of the National Employment Agency and the State Labor Inspectorate.

The President thanked the partners for their support in overcoming the problems caused by Russia's invasion of Ukraine, for the institutional reforms in the labor sector, as well as for the financing of a number of programs.

The participants in the meeting also discussed Moldova's participation in the European Commission's Employment and Social Innovation (EaSI) programme, which will make it possible to access additional funds in support of social policies.

The ministry said that the EC and the ILO will continue supporting the reforms in the social sector, implementing the European legislation and best practices in Moldova.
