TRANSNISTRIAN PARLIAMENT TO HOLD EXTRAORDINARY MEETING ON THURSDAY

07 octomber, 2015

An extraordinary plenary meeting of the Transnistrian supreme soviet will be held on October 8 to be attended by the region’s president, prime minister, members of government, deputies of local soviets and civil society representatives. Such decision was taken by the supreme soviet presidium on the initiative of speaker Mikhail Burla.

He motivated the forum’s emergency convocation with the fact that the supreme soviet’s work has lately been paralyzed due to the lack of a quorum.

“The absentees are explaining their truancy with an election campaign gaining momentum. But I should say here that according to the Central Election Commission’s data, not a single of the deputies, who did not show up at plenary meetings on September 16, 23 and 28, had been registered as a candidate for parliament at that period”, said Burla.

As already reported by Infotag, last 4 plenary meetings of the supreme soviet were upset due to the lack of a quorum because 14 deputies – supporters of president Yevgeny Shevchuk – would invariably be absent.
