LEFT BLOC TO TAKE ACTIVE PART IN LEGISLATIVE ELECTION IN GAGAUZIA

03 september, 2021

Like at the last July 11 early parliamentary election, the bloc of Communists and Socialists will take part in the elections to the Gagauzia Popular Assembly [regional legislature] as one team with a common list of candidates, Party of Socialists (PSRM) leader Igor Dodon stated during his Thursday’s trip to the southern Moldovan autonomous region.

Dodon held meetings with local PSRM headquarters in Comrat, Ceadir-Lunga and Vulcanesti, discussing their participation in the September 19 elections.

“I regard the forthcoming polls to be very important for the Gagauzia autonomy as well as for the Republic of Moldova as a whole. The bloc of Communists and Socialists is running for the GPA with one ticket and will nominate its candidates in 21 constituencies. We will also render assistance to quite a number of independent candidates, who are running with our political support”, said Igor Dodon.

In his words, “It is very important to achieve in this election the consolidation of healthy forces and to form a majority in the regional parliament of a new convocation, particularly with an account of the growing pressure put on the Gagauzia autonomy by the new leadership of the republic and particularly by the representatives of the ruling Party of Action and Solidarity”.

Infotag's dossier: The Gagauzia Popular Assembly is a 35-member regional legislature elected for 4 years from single-member constituencies. This year, the 35 mandates are being sought by about 100 candidates.
