President Igor Dodon laid flowers to the monument of the Russian poet Alexander Pushkin in Chisinau central park on Tuesday morning. He came together with councilors and leaders of the pro-President party of Socialists.

“Today it turns 218th anniversary since the birth of the great poet – Alexander Pushkin. His works are well-known in the whole world, many of his masterpieces are actual today as well. The poet spent three years of his life in the territory of the current Moldova, where many of his works were engendered. Also today in the great poet’s birthday, Moldova is marking the Day of Russian Language, which is one of six UN official languages, as well as the lingua franca in our country”, Dodon wrote on his Facebook page.

When journalists asked the President to recite a poem of Pushkin, Dodon said that everyone knows Pushkin’s poems.

“I guess everyone knows the poem “I still recall the wondrous moment…” He also has a poem about a Tzar Dodon. I am not going to recite poems before cameras now”, Dodon said.
