PRESIDENT PROMISES TO HELP DEVELOP CHESS IN MOLDOVA

President Igor Dodon, who is also President of the Moldova National Chess Federation, attended the opening ceremony of the finale of the School Republican Chess Tournament "The White Castle" on Tuesday.

Ten of over 200 teams, which participated in regional rounds, got into the tournament finale, which is taking place on April 10-14 in Chisinau.

"I stressed that I will continue supporting the development of chess in the republic, including by means of organizing sport events for children from all the country regions", Dodon stated.

The "White Castle" tournament is organized annually among the teams of educational institutions since 1969.

Initially, the tournament was organized at the all-Union level (during the USSR), then at the all-Russia level (only in the Russian Federation), while since 2014 the tournament got international status.
