OLYMPIC ECO FEST TO BE HELD IN CHISINAU SATURDAY

The 4th Olympic ECO Fest will take place in the territory of the Chisinau park "Valea Morilor" on Saturday. It is organized by the National Olympic and Sports Committee (NOSC) and the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sciences of Moldova.

NOSC President Nicolae Juravschi said at the Thursday's press conference that it is expected that around 5-6 thousand of sport fans will participate in the event. The festival is held within the framework of the European Week of Sport, organized by the EU. The Republic of Moldova is taking part in it for the first time.

According to NOSC Deputy President Nicolae Piatac, 15 national sport federations informed about their participation in the festival, which will be held under the slogan "Doing Sports in Clean Environment".

The main activity of the festival is the tournament for the cup "Golden Canoe: Juravschi and Reneischi". This year it has been 30 years since the canoe rowers Nicolai Juravschi and Victor Reneischi on a double canoe won golden medals at distances of 500 and 1000 meters at Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988.

According to President of the Federation for Canoeing and Kayaking Iacob Breahna, around 200 canoe rowers from all across Moldova, as well as from Romania, Russia and Ukraine applied for participation in races. Members of NOSC Executive Committee, Olympic champion in rowing Larisa Popova reminded that besides the Festival, the International Heart Day will be marked on Saturday. In this connection, specialists-cardiologists will measure the blood pressure and will provide free medical consultations in the park.
