RUSSIAN SENATOR CALLS TO TRAIN SPECIALISTS IN HISTORY OF FSU COUNTRIES, INCLUDING MOLDOVA

05 march, 2019

Prominent Russian senator Konstantin Kosachev, Chairman of the Standing Committee for International Affairs in the Council of the Federation [the Upper Chamber of the Russian Federation’s bicameral legislative assembly] believes that Russia should train specialists in the history of former Soviet Union countries.

On Monday, Kosachev took part in a consultative conference of the representatives of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the RosSotrudnichestvo [Russian Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation] and the academia dedicated to the formation of an objective perception of the Russian history abroad.

“We can see how history is being re-written on the state level in Ukraine, and how a new Russo-phobic historic background is being artificially created, which may fully cancel in Ukraine the true academic historic science and to shape in the people’s minds a perception of our country totally unacceptable from the viewpoint of our national security”, stated the senator.

Accordingly, Kosachev believes, “it is necessary to create our own ‘Ukrainology’. Also, we should start training in our universities specialists in the history of Moldova, Belarus, Kazakhstan, the Baltic states. This is also an extremely topical task”.
