A NUMBER OF MOLDOVAN ARTISTS TRAVELED TO MOSCOW TO PARTICIPATE IN A CONCERT ORGANIZED BY ILAN SOR

27 march, 2024

Several well-known Moldovan artists traveled to Moscow last week to participate in a concert organized by Ilan Sor. As reported by INFOTAG, coverage of this event was shown on the JurnalTV channel.

Journalists found out that Moldovan performers Adrian Ursu, Ionel Istrati, Doina Sulac, Avelin Tabarca, Petru Petkovici, Doina Arseni, Lia Taburcean, as well as the ensembles Orozint and DoReDos were scheduled to perform at the concert in the “Cosmos” cinema hall in Moscow. The organizers claimed that the concert was part of the “Mărțișor” festival.

However, the event was organized by the recently established Cultural and Educational Center of Moldova in Russia, which is funded by the fugitive oligarch Ilan Shor, who moved from Tel Aviv to Moscow. The concert was advertised in the media by the Moscow City Hall. Ilan Sor, who was sentenced to 15 years in prison for bank fraud, was presented as a “well-known opposition politician.”

The concert was scheduled for March 22, but only the first part took place. The most prominent Moldovan performers could not perform because the concert had to be interrupted due to a terrorist attack at the Crocus City Concert Hall, which happened in the same time.

The artists confirmed that they received fees for a “concert outside the country.” They also claim that they were unaware that the concert was organized and funded by Ilan Sor. At the same time, other artists claim that they were also offered to perform in Moscow but refused because they knew that the event was financed by Sor.
