​EU DELEGATION HEAD CONTENTED WITH DCFTA IMPLEMENTATION PROCESS

Ambassador Pirkka Tapiola, Head of the European Union Delegation to Moldova said that the Moldovan authorities conducted great work on implementing the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement.

At the Friday’s conference on the results of the three-year Project on providing assistance to Moldova in DCTA implementing he said that despite successes, there is much to be done still.

“The share of Moldovan exports to EU countries accounts for 65% and this may be regarded as success. Some may say that the exports growth to the EU is connected with absence of other markets, but this is not true. Investors are coming to the country, which contributes to a dynamic development. Moldova is a small country; with a quality administration it will be developing very fast”, European Union representative said.

Deputy Premier, Minister of Economy Octavian Calmic expressed hope that the European Commission will continue supporting Moldova.

“Further, our efforts will be concentrated on legislation observing”, he said.

Infotag’s dossier: The DCFTA is an agreement between the EU and the RM, directed to development of trade relations, based on mutually profitable conditions, which provide to each of the sides a more profitable access to the market in comparison with other trade partners. The agreement was signed in summer 2014.
