CREDITING AND FOREIGN INVESTMENTS SHARPLY FALLING IN MOLDOVA – DA DEPUTY CHAIRMAN

27 november, 2017

Deputy Chairman of the “Demnitate si Adevar” [DA, “Dignity and Justice”] Party Alexandru Slusari wrote on his Facebook page that the rate of crediting and foreign investments in Moldova have sharply fallen over the last two years.

“The volume of net credits in October fell 633 million lei against September (2.0%). In general, the credit portfolio fell 8.4% over a year”, said the opposition politician, who had headed the UniAgroProtect association before.

According to him, over the last 12 months, more than 2.82 million lei credit investments were withdrawn from economy.

“Exactly this important indicator demonstrates the economy temperature, as well as the inflow of direct foreign investments and the volume of investments in long-term tangible assets. However, these will slightly grow”, Slusari said.

According to him, the Moldovan business does not want to invest money in economy of a captured state, while hundreds of small and medium-sized enterprises are closing, unable to stand the concentration of economy in hands of large companies the authorities can easier control. The opposition leader maintains that Moldova’s authority regime does not need the middleclass of independent and free-thinking people.

“Now, we are witnessing another wave of labor migration from Moldova and a certain growth of money remittances from abroad. Oligarch’s propaganda tries to assure us of the fact that the country is facing a burst of economic activity, citing the figures of revenues from Customs Service and the Tax Inspection. However, these figures are from the period of 2015-2016, when the political fight of spider-oligarchs and the economic shock from the stealing of the billion brought Moldovan businesses into a tough crisis”, he said.

The politician says that DP leader Vlad Plahotniuc has always known about all the schemes on tax evasion, but power agencies controlled by him were closing their eyes on all this during many years.

“In exchange for this, ex-Premier Filat was closing his eyes on all Plahotniuc’s schemes in Moldtelecom, Metalferos, in energy and banking sector. Becoming sole dictator, oligarch just suspended a part of tax and customs schemes for his promotion. With all this, higher officials, who were working in the Customs Service and the Tax Inspection, have not been punished. For example, ex-head of the Moldovan Customs Service Tudor Balitchi even became proximate to entrepreneur Ilan Shor and is traveling abroad with him”, Slusari wrote.
