According to these data, the voice traffic declined by 13% and amounted to 1.205 billion minutes. On average, one user talks on fixed phone two hours and 59 minutes every month; this is by 9.6% less compared with the equivalent period of 2016. The average call duration went down to 2.3 minutes.

"Number of subscribers and revenues from fixed telephony services sales also decreased. As a result of such dynamics, the penetration rate of fixed telephony per 100 Moldova residents went down 1.6 % and amounted to 32.4%", reads the message of the marker regulator.

Due to the reduction of subscribers and volume of fixed networks traffic, the total volume of revenues from fixed telephony services sales decreased by 21% against the equivalent period of 2016, and amounted to 530.7 million lei. At the same time, the monthly average revenue per user (ARPU) decreased by 18.8% and amounted to 50.7 lei.

The market regulator says that the reduction is caused by the change in consumer preferences of the users of this type of telephony to mobile to alternative Internet services like Skype, Viber and others, which are convenient and profitable for users.

There were 21 fixed telephony services providers. The highest market share by revenues - 96% belongs to the Moldtelecom national telephone operator.
