MINISTER OF ECONOMY INSPECTS FUJIKURA AUTOMOTIVE FACTORY IN COMRAT

31 may, 2018

Moldova's Minister of Economy and Infrastructure Chiril Gaburici visited the Fujikura Automotive factory (Japan) of cable products being built in the town of Comrat town, the administrative center of the southern Moldovan autonomous region of Gagauzia.

The Minister was accompanied by Gagauzia Bashkan [governor] Irina Vlah and Chairman of Gagauzia Popular Assembly Vladimir Kissa. According to the Government press service, Prime Minister Pavel Filip will also visit the factory in Comrat.

During the visit to the construction site, Gaburici learned that this will be a two-storey building to have an area of 10 thousand square meters, and the production warehouse will be located on the second floor. The whole building will be equipped with heating, ventilation and air conditioning. It is planned to place the management's working rooms and a dining room for employees on the first floor. Construction has started in April, and completion is scheduled for November. The company owners believe that the first production of the factory will be released until the end of 2018.

Irina Vlah reported that 9 million lei from the regional budget have been allocated for the factory construction; 5 million lei have already been used.

"We are confident that the Government will help us, as we need more funds, that is why we invited Minister Gaburici", said the official.

The Minister promised to work together to solve the problems. Fujikura Europa representative Santiago Rodriguez recalled that this is not the first production of the investor in Moldova.

"Since 2012, we have been studying your region and Moldova. Since 2016, the factory of cable production with 1250 jobs has been operating in Chisinau. We are very grateful to the Moldovan Government's assistance. Two years ago, the production started within several moths - from May to September. The company management was not distracted by bureaucratic delays, because the government decided all these issues. We were able to deal directly with the equipment adjustment, training of personnel, and production process. We hope that a similar project will also be successfully implemented in Gagauzia", he said.
