TEACHERS SALARIES TO BE INDEXED 8% IN SEPTEMBER

The Cabinet of Ministers approved the decision to raise teachers’ salaries in Moldova by 8% starting from September 1.

The increment concerns pedagogical staff and scientific-educational personnel in educational institutions, financed from the state budget. The salaries of university presidents will grow to 6460 lei, while of university lecturers – to 4840 lei.

The Government stated that the salary raising will also concern other members of higher educational institutions’ instructional staff. 130 million lei will be spent for these purposes this year.

The salary of teachers, scientific and didactic personnel is annually indexed on September 1 on the basis of the average forecasted salary in economy and the real teachers’ salary. Given the fact that in 4Q2017 the average salary accounted for 5722 lei, while the forecasted salary for 2018 is 6180, the indexation will account for 8%.
