BUSINESS ASSOCIATIONS WELCOME TAX REFORM IN MOLDOVA

Business association representatives are welcoming the tax reform in Moldova approved by the country’s Government and Parliament. They are pointing out that the reform will help reduce shadowy economy in the country, the governmental press service reported, drawing up the results of the Wednesday’s meeting of the prime ministerial Economic Council that was attended by the representatives of Moldovan business circles and the country’s development partners.

Vladislav Caminschi, Executive Director of the National Confederation of Employers’ Associations, stated in the meeting: “All previous Governments of Moldova used to follow one and the same path – punitive – to restrict the business sphere and thus force it observe rules. In the country’s economic history, there’ve been only very few examples when decisions were taken that stimulated economic operators to work according to legal rules”.

The Economic Council members presented in the meeting the main achievements in each sphere of activities: elimination of restrictions to entrepreneurial activities, simplification of the trans-border commerce, incentives and support for private investment, reduction of illegal employment and of “salaries in envelopes”, development of the labor market, and improvement of Moldova’s position in international economic ratings.

Besides that, the Council members presented the main directions of further economic efforts such as e.g. assessments at customs houses, electronic commerce, struggle against illegal activities in the transport sector, and other.

Prime Minister Pavel Filip highlighted the Economic Council’s contribution to the Government’s work to improve the business environment in the republic, and confessed that he highly values and strongly counts on this team.

“Together with you we tried to propose a number of projects on improving the economic situation in the country, and we gave the Government a possibility to come out with social investments. We are reputed to be a business-supporting government because we want very much to improve the social situation in Moldova. For this, there is no way other than economic development”, said Pavel Filip.

According to the governmental press service, the representatives of Moldovan business associations “appreciated the Council’s work efficiency and thanked the Council for its participation in achieving solutions to the problems the people of business come across”.
