CHINESE EMBASSY ORGANIZES RECEPTION FOR MOLDOVAN JOURNALISTS

The Chinese Embassy to Moldova organized a reception on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Chinese policy of Economic Reform and Openness, as well as the 5th anniversary of the “One Belt, One Road” initiative.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China Zhang Yinghong spoke to journalists and presented the China’s achievements over 4 decades of reforms, pointing on impressive results of the initiative of Chinese leader Xi Jinping on rehabilitating the Great Silk Road under the name “One Belt, One Road”.

Since 1978, the Chinese Communist Party is implementing an initiative of reforms that widely opened the China to the world.

“The policy of reforms and openness is a key for the destiny of the today’s China, as well as a key factor for achieving the goal of the two centennials (100th anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party – in 2021 and 100th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China – in 2049), when a comprehensive prosperous society will be built in China”, the diplomat said.

According to him, by the 100th anniversary of China, a rich, strong, democratic, civilized and harmonious socialistic modern country will be built.

As for the results of the reform policy, the ambassador cited several figures. In 2017, the Chinese GDP accounted for US$12.3 trillions, which is 33.5-fold more than in 1978. Due to the sustainable growth of economy, the GDP per capita grew 22.8-fold.

“The average annual pace of its growth accounted for 8.5%. If in 1978 the GDP per one Chinaman accounted for US$200, in 2017 it reached US$8.690. Over 40 days, the number of the poor fell to 30.46 million from 770 million over 40 years” the ambassador said.

Zhang Yinghong pointed at a great importance of grandiose initiative of the “One Belt, One Road” project, which implies joint building of the infrastructure by countries through which the Great Silk Road is passing.

“103 countries and international organizations have already signed 118 agreements of cooperation with China within the One Belt, One Road”, the diplomat said.

He said that Moldova is an active participant of the initiative.

“We are glad that the cooperation between China and Moldova in different fields demonstrate fruitful results in recent years. In 2017, the bilateral trade volume achieved US$524 million, growing 30% against the 2016”, he said.

According to the ambassador, the volume of Moldovan wines exported to China keeps growing.

“China became the second largest Moldovan wine importer, 12% Moldova’s wine exports account for China”, the Chinese diplomat said.

The ambassador pointed on active negotiation process between China and Moldova on signing a Free Trade Agreement.

“I am sure that the signing of this agreement will stimulate the bilateral cooperation in various fields in interest of these countries’ people”, Zhang Yinghong said.

According to him, the Chinese Embassy to Moldova is ready to promote and explain perspectives of cooperation between China and Moldova, creating a good atmosphere of cooperation for bilateral partnership, contributing to deepening of friendly relations.
