MOLDOVAN AUTHORITIES LAUNCH SECOND ROAD REPAIR PROJECT

"Good Roads for Moldova - 2" is the new program on reconstructing Moldovan roads, which was launched on Wednesday with the participation of Minister of Economy and Infrastructure Chiril Gaburici.

As Infotag has already reported, two weeks ago Prime Minister Pavel Filip announced about this project within his trip to Causeni, though back then he said that the program will be launched in 2019 and it will imply the repairing of access roads to villages.

Gaburici specified that in total in 2019 it is planned to repair 2600 km of roads, 1500 km of which - within the program "Good Roads 2".

In total, the state budget and the Road Fund will allocate 2 billion lei for repairing the roads, included in the program.

Director General of the Automobile Road Administration Gheorghe Curmei confirmed that a special attention within the program will be paid to the building of access roads and the roads that connect localities, encouraging citizens to more actively participate in selecting road sections that need repairing.

It is planned to form a program of works for the next year by November, in order to conduct tenders on selecting contractors in early 2019. The repairs will start immediately after the weather is favorable.

The "Good Roads for Moldova" program was launched in March 2018 at the initiative of the Democratic Party. By the end of the year it is planend to repair around 1200 km of local roads. For this purpose it is planned to spend 1.6 billion lei from the state budget, 1.1 billion of which have already been mastered.
