CONDITIONS OF POLISH CREDITING TO MOLDOVAN AGRICULTURE SHOULD BE DISCUSSED - AMBASSADOR

04 december, 2018

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Poland to Moldova Bartolomiej Zdaniuk said on local television that Poland is ready to continue the project of crediting to the Moldovan agriculture, but for this the conditions and the sum of the loan should be discussed.

The diplomat reminded that several years ago Poland initiated a project of concessional lending to Moldovan farmers totaling 100 million euros. The project was approved in 2012, after that the conditions of its implementation have been discussed for long time, but a small sum was allocated for buying machinery.

"The credit was not used in full, as the conditions of using this loan were changed without the agreement with the Polish side. We are ready to continue this cooperation, but we have to see a more constructive approach from the Moldovan side. Warsaw has the money, while the decision should be taken in Chisinau in agreement with creditors", Zdaniuc stressed.

The diplomat maintains that Moldova's agricultural potential is very high, while Poland is one of EU countries, which can provide assistance in its development, including by means of promoting the Moldovan exports to the markets of Poland and the EU.

"Poland is a country which is buying a big share of wines from Moldova, but we are far from Polish market saturation. There are even greater opportunities for improving the Moldovan goods' exports to Poland", the ambassador said. He reminded that Poland launched several projects for Moldovan entrepreneurs. In particular, an important project for small enterprises in agriculture is being implemented, which is aimed at helping companies to extend production and raise export potential. The Polish diplomat stressed that for attracting investments, predictability is necessary - legal, political, geopolitical, financial. "If there are no conditions, attractiveness, stability, predictability, then who will risk investing? We have all these in Poland and so should be in Moldova", Bartolomiej Zdaniuk said.
