AIPA STARTED ACCEPTANCE OF AGRARIANS' APPLICATIONS FOR SUBSIDIES

Starting from today, the Moldovan agricultural producers may submit to the Agency for Interventions and Payments in Agriculture applications for receiving subsidies for developing production.

State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Iurie Usurelu said at the Monday's press conference that along with the classic campaign on application acceptance, which will last till October 31, young farmers and female entrepreneurs may demand subsidies in advance.

According to the law on principles of subsidizing agricultural producers, they can request from the Government the subsidy worth 50% from the sum of the conducted investment.

Subsidies are provided for indoors growing vegetables and fruit; planting and uprooting of perennial plantations, including vineyards and orchards; buying of agricultural machinery and equipment; equipping and technological re-equipping of animal husbandry farms, buying of bloodstock and preserving of the gene pool. Also, subsidies are provided at the expense of creating the postharvest infrastructure (processing facilities, cold storages and packaging lines).

AIPA Deputy Director Vadim Curmei said that the National Agriculture and Rural Development Fund accounts for 900 million lei (US$52.7 million) in 2019, just is in 2018.

According to him, last year AIPA received a record number of applications (7.4 thousand) for subsidies totaling over 1 billion lei. Meanwhile, beneficiaries invested 6 billion lei of their own and created over 4 thousand jobs.
