EIGHT BUSINESS SUPPORT CENTERS TO OPEN IN SOUTHERN MOLDOVA

A center of support for businesses was opened in Comrat on Tuesday within the European project "South Open Gate of Moldova for Businesses and Investments Promotion".

The event was attended by representatives of the EU Delegation to Moldova, the Secretariat of the "Mayors for Economic Growth" Initiative, local and central authorities, as well as organizations for supporting enterprises and business environment.

In total, eight such centers will open in the south of Moldova within the EU initiative - four within raion councils of Cantemir, Basarabeasca, Taraclia and Causeni, and four - within business incubators of Cahul, Leova, Cimislia and Stefan Voda.

The facilities, provided for supporting entrepreneurs, are designed both for providing consulting services to local business people, as well as for supporting potential entrepreneurs and creation and development of businesses, that contributes to a balanced and sustainable development of the southern region of Moldova.

According to Head of the Project Department of the EU Delegation to Moldova Marco Gemmer, the today's event confirms the EU adherence to support the development of private entrepreneurship, including in raions, for raising the country people's living standards.

"The adherence to the economic growth and the creation of jobs means not just investments in infrastructure, promotion of exports and improvement of the legislative basis. This also means the providing of access to necessary information, professional support, experience exchange, training which will be proposed to young people, women and men, who want to come back from abroad to open their businesses at home. I am glad that these eight localities accepted the invitation to join the "Mayors for Economic Growth" Initiative", he said.

Deputy Chairman of the Criuleni raion council Sergiu Gogu thanked project partners and the EU delegation for the trust and the implementation of the project which makes a direct contribution to economic development of the region.

"The opening of consultative centers is profitable, because we want to develop small and medium enterprises (SMEs), to have the possibility to provide and attract investments", he said.

Infotag's dossier: The project "South Open Gate of Moldova for Businesses and Investments Promotion" is directed to development of local economy, raising the SMEs' competitiveness in the "South" development region and attraction of foreign investments.

The project is financed by the European Union within the initiative "Mayors for Economic Growth" and is implemented by the Cimislia raion council in partnership with the Organization for Small and Medium Enterprises Sector Development of Moldova (ODIMM) and the South Agency for Regional Development.
