​CHISINAU AIRPORT EXTENDS AUCTION FOR LEASING AREAS FOR THREE MORE WEEKS

Chisinau Airport has extended the auction for leasing unused areas for Travel Retail & Food and Beverages for another three weeks. As reported by INFOTAG, the tender organizer announced this on social media.

The decision was made because by the deadline of March 25 at 17:00, only one company - Lagardere Travel Retail - submitted an application. Additionally, requests for further clarification on the tender were made by Best Value, DFM, Avolta AG, Viorica Cosmetics, Moonglow, Adani Group, and Aero Food.

Due to this fact, a new schedule for the open auction has been set: March 26 to April 15 - application submission period; April 15-16 - dossier examination; April 17 at 11:00 - the auction itself and announcement of the winner. If even after this time only one application is submitted, the tender organizer will consider it completed in accordance with the legislation.

As reported earlier by INFOTAG, on January 2024, Chisinau Airport announced the first tender for leasing retail premises. Following this, some opposition politicians and experts stated that the tender at the airport was a scheme for the illegal disposal of profitable state assets, and the tender conditions were such that only one company - Lagardere Travel Retail - could win it. In addition to them, LeBridge submitted an application.

Minister of Infrastructure Andrei Spinu stated that at the end of the deadline for submitting proposals for the first tender, only two proposals were received - in his opinion, this was not enough. Spinu stated, “The process was sabotaged”. Therefore, the tender was canceled and a new one was announced in early March.
