​MOST REMITTANCES CAME TO MOLDOVA FROM RUSSIA IN 2014

Most of money remittances, sent to Moldova from abroad by means of banks on behalf of physical persons, came from Russia, though in comparison to the previous year, their rate fell by 3.2%.

According to the NBM, 61.6% (US$993.73 million) of the total sum of remittances worth US$1,612 million came from Russia. Moreover, 99.3% were sent through money transfer systems.

In terms of remittances Russia is followed by Italy - US$156.13 million (9.7% of the total volume), Israel - US$107.91 million, the USA - US$87.51 million (5.4%), Great Britain - US$25.27 million (1.6%), Germany - US$23.7 million (1.5%).

According to geographical distribution, the share of remittances from the CIS countries fell by 4.6% against 2013 – to 63.1%, while from the EU countries, on contrary, went up by 8.8% - to 20.2%.
