MOLDOVA CAN HARDLY SIGN MEMORANDUM WITH IMF WITHOUT CONDUCTING REFORMS – FINANCE MINISTER

09 june, 2016

Without implementing efficient and resulting reforms, it will be difficult for Moldova to sign program of cooperation with the International Monetary Fund, maintains Finance Minister Octavian Armasu.

At the parliamentary Standing Committee on Economy, Budget and Finance meeting, he said to MPs that the IMF mission with mandate on conducting negotiations on the Program will come to Moldova very soon.

“We are seeking Memorandum with the IMF not to get a sack of money. Signing this document, we undertake to fulfill a package of reforms, which in particular, concern the financial and the macroeconomic stability in Moldova”, said the Minister.

According to him, the unblocking of the external financing in 2016 depends only on Moldovan authorities’ actions, which should first of all implement packages of reforms in the field of justice, achieve stability of macroeconomic indexes, as well as adopt a number of laws, which are recommended by country’s external donors.

Infotag’s dossier: Signing of a memorandum with the IMF will allow the Government to defrost external financing, in particular, the direct assistance to the state budget. Experts say that namely due to this the delay in draft state budget 2016 adoption occurred, as it was made up by the Finance Ministry with taking into account the financial assistance of external partners. First of all, it is about 60 million euros from the Romanian Government, as well as the European Union and the World Bank money.
