SOCIAL FUND EXPENDITURES ARE 26.3 MILLION LEI HIGHER THAN REVENUES

Revenues to the National Social Insurance Fund (CNAS) reached 16,046 million lei (US$876.8 million) as of the beginning of December, which is 90.8% of the plan for 2017. In comparison to the 11 months of 2016, revenues grew 2,629 billion lei.

According to the CNAS, the main share of revenues – 10,576 million accounted for incomes of the mandatory social insurance. The sum of the collected payments is 18.1% more than a year ago.

Over 5,457 million lei came from the state budget, including 4.558 million (+36.4%) – for payment of social allowances and other payments. 898.6 million was designed for covering the Social Fund deficit against 1,121 million a year ago.

CNAS expenditures grew 17.8% and accounted for 16,073 million lei (US$929 million), which is 26.3 million lei more than revenues.

Despite this, the CNAS says that over 11 months it has completely and timely fulfilled all the financial liabilities and payments to consumers on all the types of social services. The balance on its accounts was 100 million lei.
