MOLDOVAN BUDGET REVENUES GREW 19.6%, EXPENDITURES – 7.6%

Revenues to the Moldovan State Budget as of the beginning of December accounted for 29,837 million lei (US$1,704 million), which is 4,884 million lei (19.6%) more than over the equivalent period of 2016.

According to the Finance Ministry data, this is explained by the growth of general revenues by 20.2% (4,963 million) – to 29,591 million lei, while revenues financed from external sources – fell by almost one-fourth (78.7 million lei) – to 246.1 million lei.

Most of revenues came from the customs service – 18,437 billion lei (+17.4%) and tax bodies – 12,692 million lei (+25%).

The revenues’ structure is headed by the VAT – 15,352 million lei (+16.3%), excise taxes – 5,239 million (+31%) and tax on income – 4,691 million lei (+20%). With all this, the ministry returned VAT and excise taxes with 2,534 million lei, insisting it was doing this regularly and without delays, ensuring thus stable conditions for normal production activity.

Budget revenues grew 7.6% over a year (2,146 million) – to 30,377 million lei (US$1,735 million). The main costs went to education (7,633 million lei) and social protection (6,067 million).

Budget deficit accounted for 539.7 million lei (US$30.8 million), which is six times less than a year ago. It was covered from both internal and external resources.

The balance on state budget accounts grew 2,037 million lei year to date, accounting for late November 5,332 million, 751 million lei of which – on projects, financed from external sources.
