MAIN GOAL OF BANKING SECTOR REFORMING IS REHABILITATION OF TRUST IN BANKS - NBM PRESIDENT

National Bank of Moldova President Sergiu Cioclea congratulated country's bankers on the occasion of the Day of Banker, marked in Moldova on Monday.

In his message, he said that the rehabilitation of trust in banks and the banking system is the main goal of reforms, conducted by the NBM.

According to the NBM press service, Sergiu Cioclea said that the credit, on which the banking activity is based, is a word that comes from the Latin word credere, which means to trust, to believe.

The NBM President pointed at the fact that without trust banks would have not had deposits and they would have not been providing credits.

"In this professional day we in the system see the signs of great trust. This is a result of efforts of all the banking sector workers, the result of your daily participation. I am very grateful to bank workers for their courage and professionalism. I am sure that we will continue reforms with the same responsibility and dynamism. Not only the competitiveness and efficiency of the banking sector depends on changes in the system, but also the prosperity of the country we live in", the congratulation message says.

The NBM President said that over 27 years, the Moldova's banking sector went through several tests.

"The learned lessons and the adherence to reforms will help recreate a strong, transparent and reliable banking system in the country. This is what we want", Sergiu Cioclea said.
