​MOLDOVAN STATE BUDGET DEFICIT EXCEEDED US$30.2 MILLION

The deficit of the Moldovan state budget exceeded 520.1 million lei (US$30.2 million) as of the beginning of December, though yet as of November 1 the state treasury revenues exceeded expenditures by 66.8 million lei, while as of October 1 – even 385.5 million lei.

According to the Ministry of Finance, over 11 months revenues grew 9.8% against the equivalent period of 2017 – to 32,747 million lei (US$1.903 billion). Moreover, if the main revenues grew 9.1% - to 32,282 million, the revenues from projects financed from external sources almost doubled – to 465.4 million lei.

The main part of revenues (19,358 billion lei) came from the customs service, registering 5% growth. The tax service revenues grew 15.6% - to 14,677 million lei.

The main place in the structure of revenues belongs to the VAT – 16,918 million lei (+10.2%), income tax – 5,939 million lei (+26.6%) and excise taxes – 5,046 million (-4.7%). Meanwhile, the ministry repaid to economic agents VAT and excise taxes worth 2,701 million lei – 166.3 million more than a year ago.

State budget expenditures and nonfinancial assets grew 9.5% over a year, reaching 33,267 million (US$1,934 million) as of the beginning of December. Most of expenditures went to education – 8,245 million lei and social assistance – 6,489 million lei. The smallest costs traditionally were registered to environment protection – 78.1 million lei.

The balance of means on state budget accounts grew 923.9 million year to date, accounting for 5,837 million, 1,187 million lei of which – to projects financed from external sources.
