RETIREMENT PENSION SIZE IN MOLDOVA INCREASED BY AV. 180 LEI IN 2018

In 2018, the average retirement pension size in Moldova increased by 181 lei a month and amounted to 1709 lei (US$100), while the number of pensioners decreased from 716 thousand to 703.9 thousand.

According to the National Social Insurance Fund, an absolute majority (526.6 thousand people) receive old-age pension (an average of about 1644 lei), and 125.1 thousand – disability pension (1278 lei). Certain categories of civil aviation employees (560 people) receive the biggest pensions – over 8,251 lei; more than 12 thousand people receive the smallest pensions – the survivors.

At the beginning of the year, the number of state social benefits recipients is as in 2017, i.e. more than 61 thousand people. The amount of the benefit ranges from 204 lei for people who have reached the retirement age to 702 lei for people with disabilities up to 18 years.

The nursing benefit for insured people is 1,561 lei and for uninsured people – almost three times less – 540 lei (paid only up to 1.5-2 years).

The state also pays a one-time allowance for the birth of each child – 5.6 thousand lei.
