UNIDO TO PROVIDE TO MOLDOVA FINANCING FOR INCLUSIVE INDUSTRY DEVELOPMENT

The United Nations Industrial Development Organization will provide 29 million euros to Moldova within the framework of the Program for Inclusive and Sustainable Development of the Republic of Moldova for 2019-2023.

General State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure Iulia Costin said at the Tuesday’s presentation of the program that the funds will go to the implementation of projects, directed to raising competitiveness of industrial enterprises, extending their access to markets, implementation of innovations, attraction of investments, employment in rural areas and development of renewable energy sources.

“The promotion of inclusive and sustainable industry, oriented on producing goods with high value added, the intellectual specialization and efficient using of resources, is a priority for Moldova, reflected in the main strategic documents”, she said.

Costin reminded that the strategy of Moldova’s industrialization for 2019-2030, developed by the Ministry of Economy and proposed to the Government for approval, implies measures which cover all the branches in the country.

“The creation of jobs for qualified personnel, the production of goods with high value added, the growth of profit and profitability of domestic companies, as well as raising the competitiveness of Moldovan business are the main priorities”, the state secretary said.

United Nations Development Program (UNDP) representative Dima Al-Khatib sad that the presented program is a part of support the UN is providing to Moldova on its way to transforming the republic into a modern European state.

According to her, by means of technical support jointly with the Moldovan Government, measures will be taken for stimulating the entrepreneurship, the implementation of modern technologies and international standards, as well as best practices.
