​NBM HARD-CURRENCY RESERVE REACHED US$3 BILLION FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE NOVEMBER 2018

The official reserve of the National Bank of Moldova exceeded US$3,011 million as of October 25, exceeding the three-billion threshold for the first time this year.

According to the NBM, assets in convertible foreign currencies accounted for US$3,006 million, US$1,673 million of which were placed in securities, while US$1,332 million – on deposits in other central banks and in banks headquartered outside Moldova.

The previous time, when NBM reserve exceeded US$3 billion, was in late November 2018, when it reached US$3,014 million. In December it fell US$19.4 million and accounted for US$2,995 million as of the end of the year. Then, the reserve fell to US$2,793 million lei in late February 2019, after which is against started growing.

Infotag’s dossier: The historical reserve maximum was registered on November 9, 2018, when it exceeded US$3,049 million. As of the end of 2017 it was US$2,803 million, in 2016 – US$2,206 million, in 2015 – US$1,756 million, in 2014 – US$2,156 million. In 2013 it was US$2,827 million, in 2012 – US$2,515 million, in 2011 - US$1,965 million, in 2010 – US$1,717 million.
