MOLDOVAGAZ REPORTS READINESS TO RECEIVE NATURAL GAS THROUGH TRANS-BALKAN CORRIDOR

13 december, 2019

The Moldovagaz [Moldova-Russia joint company] has reported its realization of Moldova’s first-ever alternative route of receiving natural gas for Moldovan consumers, with an account of the continuing uncertainty of the fuel transit through the territory of Ukraine.

Moldovagaz officials told Infotag that together with the MoldovaTransGaz and TiraspolTransGaz companies, works have been carried out to reconstruct the main gas pipeline SDKRI (Shebelinka-Dnepropetrovsk-Krivoy Rog- Izmail) to ensure the possibility to accept natural gas in a reverse regime through the Causeni gas-measuring station (GIS).

“The works to ensure gas reverse through the trans-Balkan corridor are on a final stage. They involve the best personnel and equipment, and the works are to be completed by December 20”, said Moldovagaz specialists.

According to them, upon the completion of the said works, Moldova will be ready to start receiving natural gas in the reverse regime through the trans-Balkan corridor. The cost of the works done at the GIS Causeni (some 20 million lei) will not tell on the gas tariff for ultimate consumers.
