MOLDOVA IS TO PAY PERFECTLY FOR BUILDING ARENA CHISINAU - ION CHICU

Moldova must properly pay to the company Suma (Turkey) which built the Arena Chisinau sports complex next to Chisinau, 3 million euros per year according to the agreement, Prime Minister Ion Chicu believes.

On Wednesday night on local TV channel, he categorically rejected the view that, due to force majeure, the government should begin negotiations with Suma to reduce the company's annual payments of money.

“We have a contract signed in 2018, according to which Moldova annually pledged to pay 3 million euros for more than 10 years,” the Prime Minister argued.

Ion Chicu is convinced that breaches of contractual relations will lead to lawsuits in international arbitration, which is undesirable for the Moldovan state.

According to the contract, the general contractor Arena Chisinau will transfer the sports complex to the ownership of the Moldovan state after paying more than 30 million euros.
