REMITTANCES TO MOLDOVA INCREASE BY ALMOST 15%

The volume of remittances to Moldova through banks from abroad in favor of individuals amounted to US $ 921.53 million as of September 1, which is by US $ 118.78 or by 14.8% more than at the same period of 2019.

According to the data from the National Bank (NBM), US $ 126.45 million was transferred in August (on a net basis). The vast majority of funds – US $ 107.33 million - came through international remittance systems. In the structure of transfers, 62.9% was in euros (+12.4 p.p.), 35.4% (-5 p.p.) - in U.S. dollars and 1.7% (-3.4 p.p.) - in Russian rubles.

Geographically, 47% of the funds came from EU countries, 15.1% - from the CIS, and 37.9% - from the rest of the world. As for the countries, most remittances came in August from Israel – US $ 23.68 million (18.7%), form Italy – US $ 18.29 million. (14.5%), from Russia – US $ 17.45 (13.8%), from Germany – US $ 12.59 million (10%), from UK – US $ 9.98 million (7.9%), from US – US $ 9.04 million (7.1%), from France – US $ 8.55 million (6.8%).
