21 january, 2021

Possibilities of the development of trade and economic cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the People’s Republic of China in the context of negotiations on signing a bilateral agreement on free trade were discussed on Wednesday between Moldova’s Acting Prime Minister Aurel Ciocoi and potential investor from China Mr. Chu Song.

The Chinese businessman showed active interest in Moldova’s investment climate, possibilities of promoting the exports of Moldovan products to China, and in the level of electronic trade development.

The Moldovan caretaker government head thanked the Chinese businessman for the medical equipment he had presented to Moldova as a donation to the Institute of Emergency Medicine in Chisinau.

China is one of Moldova’s largest trade partners. In January-November 2020, Moldova’s exports to China dropped by 27.3% in the pandemic crisis conditions – down to US$11.5 million, but imports from China marked US$574.5 million (+5.8%).
