EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT APPROVES RESOLUTION ON ASSISTING COUNTRIES SEEKING EU MEMBERSHIP

The European Parliament approved a Resolution providing for assistance to countries seeking to integrate into the European Union, MEP Siegfried Muresanu (Romania), from the European People's Party (EPP) and Head of the EP delegation for the development of relations with Moldova, wrote in social networks.

According to him, the document provides for a new strategy for the expansion of the European Union. In it, the European Parliament calls for accelerating the accession to the EU of those countries that clearly demonstrate their European aspirations, including the Republic of Moldova. The authors call for additional technical assistance for EU candidate countries and for an access to EU assistance instruments designed specifically for countries intending to join the EU.

“Despite the difficult situation and the energy crisis caused by Russia's war against Ukraine, the Moldovan authorities manage to successfully implement the recommendations of the European Commission. This testifies to the country's firm commitment to the European course. That is why we must provide the Moldovan authorities and citizens with a greater support in the process of joining the EU,” Muresan wrote.
