RUSSIAN PAYMENT SYSTEM “MIR” IS IMPOSSIBLE TO USE IN MOLDOVA - CONCLUDES THE NATIONAL BANK

The National Bank of Moldova (NBM) has stated that servicing the Russian payment system “MIR” on the territory of the Republic of Moldova is impossible. As reported by “INFOTAG”, the NBM emphasized that it is the sole institution in the country responsible for licensing, regulating, and supervising the activities of banks in the Republic of Moldova and branches of banks from other states.

The NBM noted that “Promsvyazbank,” with which the Bascan of Gagauzia, Evghenia Gutul, signed a cooperation agreement, did not apply to the Moldovan regulator for authorization or a license.

“Any legal entity intending to operate a payment scheme or agreement in Moldova submits a request for authorization to the NBM. At the moment, the NBM has not received such a request from “Promsvyazbank',” the regulator noted.
