CNPF TO CONDUCT CAPITAL MARKET DIAGNOSTICS WITH USAID SUPPORT

18 april, 2024

The National Commission for Financial Markets (CNPF) with the support of USAID is launching a diagnosis of Moldova's capital market. INFOTAG newsperson was informed by the commission, the regulator is developing a Capital Market Development Strategy for 2025-2028 for this purpose.

The USAID program Institutional and Structural Reforms in Moldova will support the conduct of a comprehensive analysis of the capital market, which will form the basis of the Strategy. The document will take into account the practical guidance developed by the World Bank for the development of capital markets in small economy countries.

The CNPF emphasizes that a strong capital market contributes to economic growth by mobilizing resources and savings of the population and providing alternative sources of financing for both the government and the private sector. In this context, the analysis of the capital market will help regulators in developing the legal framework - a catalyst for the development of the Moldovan capital market.

“It is also important that the development of the capital market will increase Moldova's attractiveness to foreign investors, contributing to the strengthening of the financial system's stability,” said a commission representative.

All segments of the market will be considered in the capital market analysis: the money market, the government debt market, the market for government securities, the stock market, and corporate bonds. The analysis will include proposals for the development of each segment, so that they are reflected in the state policy for the development of the capital market in the future.
