INTERVIEW WITH VASILE DRANGOI: BRAZILIAN BUSINESS PEOPLE ARE INTERESTED IN MOLDOVAN WINES

Brazilian business people, owners of large supermarkets, have displayed their interest in purchasing quality Moldovan wines, entrepreneur Vasile Drangoi told your Infotag correspondent, in a rapid-fire interview given ahead of his business trip to Brazil.

Q: Mr. Drangoi, you are known as a businessman dealing with the production of ice cream in the Republic of Moldova. How did you start to carry out a campaign for promoting Moldovan wines in Brazil?      

A:
Four years ago, the concern Drancor opened an ice cream factory in Brazil. When we were familiarizing our Brazilian partners with Moldova, we informed the foreign business people about the wonderful Moldovan wines. This information had awakened their interest and they asked us to organize a tasting of wines.      

Q: Will the upcoming tasting be the first one organized in Brazil?      

A:
No, it will be the second one. The first one was conducted in 2012 in the Florianopolis city (Santa-Catharina State). At the presentation, we brought Moldovan wines produced by different companies. Yet, majority of representatives of Brazilian supermarkets have opted for the alcoholic beverages produced by the Moldo-American company Lion Gri. Thus, the second tasting, due in April 2013 will be organized on the basis of the production offered by this company.    

Q: Are you planning to supply bottled or bulk wines to Brazil?   

A:
For the time being, we are planning to supply only bottled wines.    

Q: Are you going to promote in Brazil wines produced by other local companies?  

A:
Of course. Moreover, we are planning to expand the shipment of wines and brandies to this country.    

Q: Are you promoting the Moldovan wines abroad, at the instruction of the Moldovan Government, or at your own initiative.   

A:
This is a personal initiative. Yet, we have informed the Government on the work carried out in this respect and we have got the green light for these actions.       

Q: The promotion of the Moldovan production abroad is not only an honorable mission, but also a costly one. How are you planning to cover the expenditures to this end?    

A:
With the help of the Moldovan companies whose wines will be demanded on the Brazilian market.
