25 february, 2015

Moldova’s new Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici will pay his first overseas visit to Brussels. He will fly there on Thursday at the head of an official delegation, which will include Deputy Premier, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Natalia Gherman.

While in Brussels, Chiril Gaburici will hold meetings with EU Council President Donald Tusk, President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz, Federica Mogherini – High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission, with Romanian Euro-parliamentarian Andy Cristea – Chairman of the inter-parliamentary committee for cooperation between the European Union and the Republic of Moldova, with MEP Joseph Daul – Chairman of the European People’s Party (EPP) Group in the European Parliament, and other officials.

The interlocutors will focus mostly on the judiciary reform and struggle against corruption in Moldova, and on questions related to achieving a sustainable economic growth in this republic, reported the governmental press service.

It quoted Prime Minister Gaburici as saying that the visit to Brussels has a particular significance and importance because the new Government’s entire work is based on the principles and goals of the country’s European integration.

“It is essential to accomplish the judiciary reform, step up the efficiency of our struggle against corruption, and to ensure a sustainable economic growth. We will not modernize the country or make its European path irreversible if we fail to implement reforms and to develop close cooperation with the European Union for a quality transition to European standards”, said the prime minister.
