​PRESIDENT TIMOFTI APPOINTS DEPUTY PREMIER GHEORGHE BREGA AS ACTING PRIME MINISTER

Deputy Premier Gheorghe Brega has been appointed by Moldovan President Nicolae Timofti as the country’s acting prime minister.

Brega stated to journalists following his Friday’s meeting with the head of state that he stands ready to ensure an operative management of the Government, running of current deeds, and that “I just can’t have any ambitious plans”.

He called on all parliamentary parties to speed up the forming of a new pro-European government, saying: “I hope for the political maturity of our LDPM colleagues and for their coming back into the governing alliance. They have no other way, for if they don't return, we will lose our pro-European alliance”.

Gheorghe Brega was born on September 28, 1951. He is a urology doctor by his higher education. In 2009 he was elected to the Parliament on the Liberal Party ticket. On July 30, 2015 Gheorghe Brega was appointed Deputy Prime Minister in charge of social issues.
