DODON AND LUPU TO HOLD PUBLIC DEBATE ON WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON

26 octomber, 2016

Presidential candidates Igor Dodon of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) and Marian Lupu of the Democratic Party (DP) will take part in a public debate that will begin at 3 pm local time on Thursday in the MoldExpo Center territory to last 1.5 hours.

The debate was organized by news agency Infotag whose Director Alexander Tanas says that the event should satisfy the considerable interest of the Moldovan society to the all-nation direct election of the president, which is taking place in Moldova after a 20-year pause.

“In this very specific election campaign, many television channels are organizing pre-election debates, but we the society haven’t actually seen a real debate yet. There is no organizers’ fault in this, for it is the problem of candidates. Due to personal ambitions or certain principles, some candidates refuse to come and debate with certain opponents. Some come personally, while other ones send their representatives. But such disputes present little interest. Of course it would be interesting to organize debates with other pairs of candidates, but only Igor Dodon and Marian Lupu have agreed to come for such “duel” at the platform that was organized by Infotag”, said its Director Alexander Tanas.

In his words, this is a new experience for the news agency Infotag, which has been working on the Moldovan media market since 1992.

“We hope everything will be OK. If the debate is a success, we may continue the new practice. This presidential election may have a second round of voting, and a parliamentary election is not far off “, said Alexander Tanas.

The Dodon/Lupu debate will be televised live, with the signal to be available on two accessible channels on the YouTube –
