SOCIALISTS DEMAND HEALTH MINISTER DISMISSAL

24 february, 2017

The Party of Socialists gathered more than one hundred of its members and supporters in front of the Health Ministry, demanding dismissal of the agency head Ruxanda Glavan.

PSRM deputy Vlad Batrincea said that 70% of Moldovan population is living below the poverty level, while the authorities raised tariffs on medical services, due to which these became inaccessible to most of citizens.

“People cannot pay for communal services, medicines and living essentials, while the authorities, instead of helping the people, are raising prices on services, including medical services, by several times. The cost for calling ambulance, and if a person does not have money for buying mandatory medical insurance policy, he will have to pay 120 lei for the ambulance call. Prices for bed-place in hospital also grew. A person will have to pay more than 1 thousand lei per day, in cardiology – 400 lei, traumatology – 300 lei”, the opposition MP said.

He maintains that instead of creating conditions for people so that nobody to leave the country for seeking better live, the authorities are many-fold raising prices on everything.

According to Batrincea, the budget of the National Health Insurance Company (CNAM) accounts for around 5 billion lei. In 2009 it was 2 billion lei and back then the situation in the healthcare was more or less normal.

“As of today the budget grew, but hospitals are closing and there is no money. The Minister has to tender resignation, the fund’s money should be more carefully controlled and a moratorium should be introduced on prices on medicines and services”, Batrincea stressed.

He said that in urgent medical assistance hospitals people can get only citramone and 100 grams of brilliant green.

“There are no free beds in hospitals and, besides the fact that people should pay for the stay, they are obliged to pay for the treatment. The Government and the Ministry should provide to people accessible services”, the MP stressed.

He said that Prime Minister Pavel Filip said at the Wednesday’s Government sitting that heads of agencies should come out to protesters during rallies and speak with them.

“Today we are conducting a protest in front of the Ministry, but nobody came to us. At the Friday’s Parliament sitting, PSRM deputies will demand that Health Minister Ruxanda Glavan to be dismissed”, Batrincea said.
