BAN ON “RUSSIAN PROPAGANDA” IS JOINT GAME BY DEMOCRATS AND SOCIALISTS – MCP

16 june, 2017

The opposition Moldovan Communist Party regards the Democratic Party’s desire to ban what they call “Russian propaganda” to be nothing but “a part of the joint game played by the Democratic Party and the Party of Socialists”.

The MCP wrote in its statement: “The Democratic Party is intending to adopt a law permitting to censor Russian television channels retransmitted in Moldova. This is a part of the joint game being played by the ruling Democratic Party and Party of Socialists in order to railroad the so-called ‘electoral system reform’”.

“The scandalous topic of the censorship of Russian television channels is an ideal information smokescreen called to shield the public attention from their joint attempt to introduce the mixed electoral system in Moldova”, said the MCP statement.

Its authors pointed out that the censorship will apply to the television channels of those states, which have not ratified the European Convention on Transfrontier Television. Among these are several European states – Sweden, Denmark, the Republic of Ireland, the Netherlands, Greece, as well as China, Australia, Belarus and some other.

“Our authorities are not explaining if they are going to censor the television channels of these countries. They are talking about nothing else by Russian TV channels, This is precisely what their Washington masters are expecting from them and are even ready to provide financial means for this struggle against the Russian propaganda”, said the MCP Statement.

Its authors believe that the Moldovan ruling party has decided to act as “the ministry of propaganda” and to invest itself with an exclusive right to decide what concretely the citizens should watch and listen and what they may not.

“The using of means from the arsenals of totalitarian regimes is showing that Moldova is sliding down into a most reactionary dictatorship. The struggle against “enemy voices” is disclosing what is typical of all dictators – a panicky fear of any alternative opinion and of alternative information sources”, said the MCP Statement.
