​NATO EXPERTS VISITING MOLDOVA

A delegation of NATO experts led by Allied Joint Force Command Naples' Assistant Chief of Staff, German Army Brigadier General Reinhard Kloss are paying a 3-day visit to Moldova.

The Moldovan Ministry of Defense reported on Tuesday that the visitors held a fruitful conversation with Deputy Minister Gheorghe Galbur and Ministry’s State Secretary Aurel Fondos.

Fondos thanked the Western partners for the help they rendered at working out the NATO Defense Capacity Building Initiative (DCBI) for Moldova, to which the republic assessed in September 2014 at the NATO Summit in Wales. The Initiative stipulates NATO’s assistance for analysis of the republic’s current defense ability and for determining the spheres that need to be developed. He said the DCBI is one of the work priorities of the Ministry of Defense.

Gheorghe Galbur informed the experts on the socio-political situation in the republic and wider in this region as well as on the strategic documents being prepared by the ministry.

General Reinhard Kloss pointed out the progress reached by Moldova on a number of projects realized here jointly with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. He emphasized the importance and usefulness of involving the Moldovan military into various multinational field exercises and international peacekeeper missions. Kloss reaffirmed NATO’s readiness to further promote the raising of the professional level of the Moldovan military.

The NATO delegation met also with officers from various ministerial structures, and discussed programs of cooperation between Moldova and NATO.
