MOLDOVAN, UKRAINIAN PREMIERS DISCUSS OPENING OF NEW JOINT CUSTOMS CHECKPOINTS

Prime Ministers of Moldova and Ukraine Pavel Filip and Vladimir Groysman met on the margins of the Tbilisi Belt and Road Forum 2017 on Tuesday, discussing the possibility of creating new joint customs control stations at the border.

According to the Government's press release, Filip thanked his Ukrainian counterpart for contribution in opening joint checkpoint at the Transnistrian section of Moldovan-Ukrainian border Cuciurgan-Pervomaisk. According to him, this allowed to take a number of important decisions in the field of settling the Transnistrian conflict, including signing of several protocols in the field of education, communication and agriculture.

"Moldova has fulfilled all the internal procedures for implementing the agreement on joint customs control, signed in Chisinau in early October. I think we can already proceed to coordination of issues for opening other joint control checkpoints", Pavel Filip said. At the meeting, the two premiers welcomed the resumption of the activity of the Moldova-Ukraine Commission for Border Demarcation. The sides also agreed to accelerate the adjustment of the text of the Agreement on ensuring the functioning of the Dniester complex hydroscheme.

Pavel Filip and Vladimir Groysman also came to arrangement on signing agreements on liberalization of road and air transportation until the end of the year. The sides also agreed to raise quotas for international cargo transporters to 60 thousand licenses from 40 thousand and the extension of the term of stay in the Ukrainian territory for Moldovan freight transporters.
